Fort Wayne, Ind. —The Canterbury School boys basketball team captured the IHSAA Sectional 52 championship Saturday night, defeating Lakewood Park Christian 65–51 to secure the title and advance in the state tournament. The Cavaliers now advance to the regional round of the Indiana High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball State Tournament, which will be played Saturday, March 14. Regionals mark the next step in the tournament following sectional play, with winners advancing to the semi-state round the following weekend. Canterbury’s sectional run began with a dominant 69–21 victory over Hamilton, followed by a 67–52 win against Fremont in the semifinal before defeating Lakewood Park Christian in the championship game. The Cavaliers continue to build on the momentum of a program that reached historic heights in 2024. Under head coach Deric Adams, Canterbury captured its first-ever IHSAA boys basketball state championship, highlighted by a standout performance from senior John Parent, who recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds in the title game. That championship marked a milestone moment for the school and added to the rich tradition of Cavalier athletics. The victory was the 15th state championship in Canterbury School history, spanning multiple sports programs. Now, the Cavaliers aim to extend their postseason run as they head into regional competition with confidence and momentum. With strong performances throughout the sectional and a proven championship pedigree, Canterbury will look to continue its journey through the state tournament on Saturday.
